Holiday Park Atrium Upgrade
Renowned nationwide holiday park client required a bespoke glazing upgrade package to overhaul their existing glazed atrium at their holiday park located in the Lake District, Cumbria.
After initial site meeting, our technical team completed a sample bay overhaul to the atrium roof. This gave our team the opportunity to intrusively inspect all of the existing glazing system components and overall construction as well as observe their performance failures during the thorough testing.
Upon completion, the testing highlighted several major flaws with the glazed atrium. This included dilapidated weather gaskets, fixings, sealants and glazing tape past their serviceable lifespan. It was also discovered during our testing the design and installation methods used on the critical interface between the base vertical mullion rafters and horizontal transom sections were porous and completely unsealed so at every drop of water, leaks would occur.
With the information gathered from our tests, GRs technical team tailored a bespoke overhaul programme that would overcome the original design flaws and make use of the latest high quality, system compatible replacement components.
Access for the works were carried out through a combination of IRATA trained abseil glazing technicians and onsite man-safe system. As part of our overhaul package, we issued the client a five-year, insurance backed guarantee against water ingress and product failure upon project completion.
After all works were completed, further tests were carried out and no signs of water ingress through the newly installed system components were discovered. A now watertight and fully serviceable glazed roof atrium was handed back to the client.
