Working at a leading Cornwall holiday venue, our specialist design and build team worked with the client and their construction team to infill an existing open terrace area with a point fixed glazed screen. The goal was to create a light open atmosphere which could be used all year by the visitor to the onsite café allowing an increase in trade whilst maintaining the feeling of being outside and retaining the stunning views from the terrace.
The screen was supplied in a specialist double skin point fixed glazing system sourced from Europe where the specially design fitting is attached through the inner glass only, thus avoiding cold bridging and giving better thermal insulation; leaving the outer pane free from any surface interruption, giving a completed silicone filled external surface. The facade was fitted back to a bespoke polyester powder coated perimeter channel frame fitted back to the existing structure and to a new steelwork frame fixed to the slab and glulam roof beams.
The screen also incorporate a Geze automatic sliding door fitted with an internal pocket screen and PIR activation as well as manual override facilities, and 2 no set of top hung Schuco AWS windows supplied with 240 volt chain actuator and connected to the clients building management system. The glass units was supplied with a toughened/laminated inner for both strength and security as well as having a specialist neutral solar control which prevents overheating and glare through the glass during the hotter months and then minimising heat loss during the colder winter months.
