GR are one of the UK’s leading specialist in the supply of bespoke architectural glazing. This Rooflight installation at a high-end residential property in the exclusive area of Holland Park London highlights the specialist works we can undertake. The design of the rooflight was based upon a dual pitched design with 2 no. conical ends, the design also called for a tapering design which involved a sloping ridge. Due to the bespoke design a structural steel ridge beam was included, weighing in excess of 350kg which was cladding internally with the use of bespoke pressed aluminium.
A request was also made for the client for a bespoke internal aluminium rafter bar design which was specially designed in house to meet the client requirements, and a bespoke die manufacture with the profile extruded. The system was designed in a structural glazing system where the glass units are structurally bonded to an internal aluminium framework thus creating a flush silicone filled external surface, as a result, removing any water or dirt build traps.
The glass was supplied in a specialist solar control coating to help prevent overheating of the space below, 50% of the glass was also with an obscured interlayer preventing direct vision from the neighbouring terrace properties. 4 no. thermally broken roof vents were also supplied to the rooflight all openable on 240 volt chain actuators.
